Relax in daytime, go wildlife watching in late evenings

Wildlife is most active in the evenings, and that's when we head out on exciting excursions often with a particular animal in mind. The forests surrounding Skinnskatteberg are perfect for tracking and observing wildlife. Our guides have extensive knowledge and experience of all the animals in the forests, and they know how to track and observe them respectfully without causing any disturbance.

During the morning and daytime, we go on interesting hikes and canoeing excursions to explore the beauty of nature. There will also be ample time to relax, swim, or hike on your own.

LOCATION & HOW TO GET HERE

Meeting point: Stockholm Arlanda airport. We meet at Arlanda Visitor Center, an official information desk in Terminal 5 in the arrivals hall on the lower floor, next to cafe Ritazza. Our guide will arrive there at 3 pm, not earlier. Just wait there and look out for our WildSweden-sign. If you are on time, we will not leave without you. If we cannot find you we will try to call you. From there we take our minivan for the two hours drive to Skinnskatteberg.

  • If your flight is delayed, we will wait for maximum of half an hour, since we have other guests joining the tour. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late you need to take a taxi to Färna at your own expense. This ride takes two hours and cost approximately 5000 SEK for one car, so that is pricey!

  • Many guests choose to visit Stockholm before the tour begins. If you do, you still need to return to Arlanda airport to meet our guide.

At the end of the tour we will take you to Köping train station for a train to Stockholm Central Station, ticket included. From Stockholm you can easily continue on your own to Arlanda airport with a shuttle train or bus. You will be in Stockholm at around 6pm and Arlanda at 6.30 pm at the earliest. This means you cannot plan for any flight earlier than 8pm, or you can stay an extra night at the airport, or better in Stockholm before you return home. If you want to stay some extra nights at Färna Herrgård we kindly ask you to book the extra nights directly with Färna Manor. As a participant on this tour you can ask for a 10% discount on the extra nights. Please note that we will not be able to arrange your train tickets to Stockholm, but we will provide a taxi to Skinnskatteberg free of charge.

If you arrive by car please arrive by 5 pm at Färna Manor in Färna village, a 2 hour drive from Stockholm. Address: Färna Herrgård 1, 73970 Skinnskatteberg >> Link to Google Maps

If you travel by train/bus go to Skinnskatteberg station. From there you get a free 10-minute taxi to Färna Manor. You need to book your taxi transfer by email directly with the local taxi company, at least some days before arrival: info@taxiskinnsberg.se or by phone +46-222-10040. At the time of booking, let them know that WildSweden will pay for the taxi transfer.

  • Recommended minimum age 15 years.

  • On some occasions during this tour we may walk in rough terrain off-trail where it may be rocky, mossy, wet and slippery, even in darkness with headlamps. These walks are slow with stops along the way and rarely last for more than an hour. Please only sign up for this tour if you think you will be fit enough for these walks.

  • Please note that the long sun hours during June and July means that we have to stay out until late, often until after midnight. But we do late breakfasts so you always have the chance to sleep in during the mornings.

  • This tour is not specifically adapted for photographing wildlife, although there will be plenty of opportunities to photograph the natural wonders that we may see.

This trip is rated excellent by earlier guests!
