May 14: Moose & Beaver Safaris
We saw Beavers more than 10 times during our first Beaver Safari this year. Another group saw 8 Moose at the same time standing together in a meadow!
May is a good time for Moose and Beaver watching in Sweden. Moose are solitary animals so it is unusual to see many of them at the same time like this, but this part of the Bergslagen forests is extremely rich in Moose with more than 19 Moose per 1000 hectares. It is royal hunting grounds so the King and the Prince of Sweden hunt here during a couple of days in October each year. But since their hunting grounds is very large a high Moose population can be maintained so it also makes it an ideal place for Moose watching.
It sure looks like it will get a summer with lots of wildlife in our binoculars!

We saw eight Moose at the same time at this place.

We saw this rare Great Grey Owl the day before the guests arrived. Photographed through a spotting scope.
